WRITTEN REFLECTIONS

WHAT DRIVES ME AS A LITERACY INSTRUCTOR

Writing Prompt: What drives you as a literacy instructor? As a reader, as a writer? For this assignment, formulate a statement that outlines your personal beliefs about the importance of literacy.

I believe that creating a literacy-rich classroom involves a combination of all subject matters displaced in a space that provides an opportunity for my students to embody the connectiveness of literacy. Literacy is a critical component of being a confident and competent learner in every subject taught through the Saskatchewan Curricula. The most efficient way for students to begin the complex understanding that literacy is continuous and relevant throughout their studies is through cross-curricular activities. I hope to create a classroom environment where students struggle to distinguish a particular subject being taught. I believe that by combining core subject outcomes together it will help students develop a better understanding of the big ideas relevant to the evolving definition of literacy.
